Pennsylvania and New Jersey

I don't have pictures of everyone and every place, but these are a few that represent my gratitude for all of you!

There are twelve people who have committed to faithfully pray for me on a daily basis, and this is one of them...my Aunt Faith, from Allentown, PA. 

Thank you, to all of my daily prayer partners, I so appreciate each of you!   

After speaking at the Portuguese Evangelical church in Bethlehem, PA, the ladies invited me to share with their prayer group.

I gave the children a Mozambican beaded bookmark to help them remember to pray for God's work in Mozambique.

Several years ago, this church raised funds for their new building, and from their building fund, they gave a tithe...   

...toward the construction of the Maputo Biblical and Theological Seminary in Mozambique!

What a beautiful example of obedience in tithing that shows God's provision and multiplication, so that not only 1 building could be built...but 2! 

A Car and Ohio

Thank you for praying in regards to a vehicle that I could use for traveling and speaking in the Northeastern US. 

My dad, and surfing partner, blessed me with a rental car.

Thank you, dad.

These weeks are now filled with much driving, speaking, and staying in different homes.

I've been in Ohio taking part in OMS Coming to You events in 3 towns.  

I stayed in the homes of some very dear people, and it was a joy to share with this home group.

Missouri, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky

I stayed with former colleagues from Mozambique, Vaughn and Cindy Telfer (you can see the Mozambican wood-work behind hung over their fireplace).

I traveled to Indiana for meetings at the One Mission Society Headquarters.

I was blessed to be able to share at the OMS chapel service.

This special hug was representative to me for how it felt to be welcomed back by my co-workers who are serving on this side in the U.S.

The OMS office walls are covered with reminders of the work going on around the world.

The picture on the upper right is of a Mozambican man, Dinis, who is currently moving to an unreached area in Mozambique to plant new churches and disciple leaders.   

From Indiana, I traveled to Illinois to meet with two students at Moody Bible Institute to discuss women's ministry internship possibilities. 

While there, I was able to meet up with two of my favorite people, Bruce and Mabel Callender. God used the Callenders to open up the work and lead the team in Mozambique for ten years, which included my first two years, 2002-2004. I'm ever grateful for their example of servant leadership.  

I then traveled to Kentucky to speak with a group of students from Asbury University. We sat outside at night around a fire pit and shared about God's love, faithfulness, and power.  

While in Kentucky, I was also able to visit with one of my best friends, Candy, and her parents. 


Candy and I met in a small group at The Rock Church in San Diego, CA in 2001. She remembers the night when I timidly shared with our small group that I believed God was calling me to serve Him in Africa.

It has been amazing to see how faithful God has been in the last 10 years! 

Easter

It was a joy to spend Easter with my family.

 Using an EvangeCube, I shared the story of God's love in Jesus Christ with my dear nephews.

Then it was time for games.

Lord willing, I'll be leaving California this week.

Before heading back to Mozambique in July, I'll be visiting and sharing with partner churches in the Midwest and Northeast in April, May, and June.

I would appreciate prayer for a vehicle to use for traveling and speaking during the months of May and June.

Kids at Awana

I had fun sharing with the children at Calvary Church of Pacific Palisades, where I went to church as a child!

  Awana is a children's evangelism and discipleship program, and this month the kids are learning about missions.

We looked at where we were on the map, and I told them that the culture and way of life in America and in Mozambique is very different!

We learned about 4 differences - the first one was that Mozambican women wear capulanas.

And then I called on 4 volunteers...

The first one got to wear the Mozambican capulana. 

The second volunteer got to have a life-size baby doll wrapped around her back just like a Mozambican woman. 

The third one (and maybe the most difficult) tried to carry/balance a "load of laundry" (lots of towels) on his head.

Definitely a balancing act!

As the laundry on the head struggles...the fourth volunteer tries to balance a small basin that would usually be filled with some fruit or food to sell (but we put books inside, so as not to harm any fruit in the process :)

The capulana girls and the balancing boys did a great job, and we had a lot of fun!

I shared why I live in a far away place where people do things differently...to share the love of God in Jesus Christ. And I hope they remember something about God's cross-cultural love when they think of all the different crazy things they did at Awana :o)
